Joe will be discussing how the grass roots End-of-Life Doula movement can help those nearing end of life and how hypnotherapists can provide services to support the Doula and those they care for. End-of-life doulas provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their family, which may include education and guidance, as well as emotional, spiritual or practical care, from as early as initial diagnosis through bereavement.
Joe Knight is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance, a 501c6 membership organization seeking to inspire positive, creative change in American death practices by offering the highest standards and ethical and practical guidelines, public education, and rich networking opportunities for all end-of-life (EOL) doulas who support the dying, their caregivers, and the agencies involved.

Steven Rector is currently the Lead Clinical Social Worker at the Ascension Macomb Oakland Partial Day Program, where he provides group therapy and case management for Traumatic Brain Injury and Psychiatric Patients. Prior to this he was the Lead Clinical Social Worker in the Emergency Department at St John Macomb-Oakland Hospital. He developed the screening program and ran it from 1995-2016. His responsibilities included providing emergency mental health screening for emergency department patient’s to determine level of care; referring to outpatient psychiatric and/or substance abuse programs as appropriate; obtaining insurance pre-authorization as required for admission to partial program or inpatient units; assisting hospital staff and psychiatrist on the medical floors as needed with the assessment and treatment needs of patients with mental health issues. Andrea Kremko is a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and a certified Medical Hypnotherapist. She holds a Doctorate of Divinity degree and is trained in several modalities of energy healing as well. Andrea draws from a wide variety of hypnotherapeutic processes to assist her clients in reaching their goals. To advance her skills she attends a wide variety of seminars, lectures and workshops. Andrea has been actively involved in her own personal growth and healing for over 17 years. She has been active in the healing arts since 1992. The power of the subconscious mind is infinitely more powerful than our conscious mind and can be directed, with an experienced and professional hypnotherapist to relieve barriers and improve health. Over the years, smoking, panic attacks, anxiety and anger seem to dominate the concerns of people who come. My practice is however a general one and all areas of concern can be addressed.
The most important thing for hypnotherapy to work is that you want the desired end result. It must be your choice to come. Even long-term issues start being resolved after the first session and although you may not be aware of change happening- often others are. When you think about it – why do you stop yourself achieving what you want? You know what is making you so uncomfortable, or maybe not. Your thoughts are your conditioning or programming by parents, family, peers, teachers and can be changed to a more positive approach if you want to.

Greg is a Radiation Therapist (cancer treatment) in Windsor, Ontario. He has obtained his Doctorate in Acupuncture, a Bachelor of Science degree, Radiation Therapist Certification and has an Adult Education Teaching Certificate. He has served as Clinical Coordinator/Clinical Instructor for the School of Radiation Therapy and a Communications Officer. He is the Chair of the Board and President for the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Technologists.
Greg is a graduate of Clinical Hypnosis Institute and has completed his Medical Hypnotherapy Certification. He is also a Certified Coach Practitioner for Personal Lifestyle and Business Strategies.

As much as I enjoyed my nursing career I felt that the focus was not the holistic approach I was looking for. Hypnotherapy on the other hand, offers the ability to create a sense of peace and harmony within an individual, thereby allowing them to meet the present challenge in their life. This challenge, whether emotional, psychological or physical, can then be met, and dealt with in a positive way, making the journey toward wellness and peace of mind, less traumatic. In this way we have an individual free from ‘dis-ease’, functioning well, physically, emotionally, and socially.
My practice is a general one, the areas in which I have found hypnotherapy helpful are: Addictions including Smoking, Alcohol, Gambling, and Recreational Drugs. Anxiety, Stress, and Panic Attacks. Bed Wetting. Fears, and Phobias. Improved Concentration and Motivation. Mind – Body Healing. Physical conditions such as, Psoriasis, Pain Management, Pre and Post surgery, etc. Public Speaking. Relaxation. Self-Confidence. Sexual Dysfunction. Stress and Pain Management during Childbirth. Weight Management and Control.
All of these areas and more can be dealt with using hypnotherapy, however I have found that a majority of my clients have presented with severe anxiety and panic attacks. I have therefore found myself somewhat specializing in this area. Using hypnotherapy, and a combination of self- hypnosis, meditation and/or relaxation techniques, has proved a successful combination in the approach to these severe anxiety states.
